WARNING-

When using any electrical or electronic

product, basic precautions should always be followed.

These precautions include, but are not limited to, the fol-

lowing:

Special Message Section items, and any Assembly Instructions

found in this manual BEFORE making any connections, includ-

ing connection to the main supply.

Main Power Supply Veriﬁcation: Yamaha products are

manufactured speciﬁcally for the supply voltage in the area

where they are to be sold. If you should move, or if any doubt

exists about the supply voltage in your area, please contact your

dealer for supply voltage veriﬁcation and (if applicable) instruc-

tions. The required supply voltage is printed on the name plate.

For name plate location, please refer to the graphic found in the

Special Message Section of this manual.

This product may be equipped with a polarized plug

(one blade wider than the other). If you are unable to insert the

plug into the outlet, turn the plug over and try again. If the prob-

lem persists, contact an electrician to have the obsolete outlet

replaced. Do NOT defeat the safety purpose of the plug.

Some electronic products utilize external power sup-

plies or adapters. Do NOT connect this type of product to any

power supply or adapter other than one described in the owners

manual, on the name plate, or speciﬁcally recommended by

Yamaha.

WARNING:

Do not place this product or any other

objects on the power cord or place it in a position where anyone

could walk on, trip over, or roll anything over power or connect-

ing cords of any kind. The use of an extension cord is not rec-

ommended! If you must use an extension cord, the minimum

wire size for a 25’ cord (or less) is 18 AWG. NOTE: The

smaller the AWG number, the larger the current handling capac-

ity. For longer extension cords, consult a local electrician.

Ventilation: Electronic products, unless speciﬁcally

designed for enclosed installations, should be placed in loca-

tions that do not interfere with proper ventilation. If instructions

for enclosed installations are not provided, it must be assumed

that unobstructed ventilation is required.

Temperature considerations: Electronic products should

be installed in locations that do not signiﬁcantly contribute to

their operating temperature. Placement of this product close to

heat sources such as; radiators, heat registers and other devices

that produce heat should be avoided.

This product was NOT designed for use in wet/damp

locations and should not be used near water or exposed to rain.

Examples of wet/damp locations are; near a swimming pool,

spa, tub, sink, or wet basement.

This product should be used only with the components

supplied or; a cart, rack, or stand that is recommended by the

manufacturer. If a cart, rack, or stand is used, please observe all

safety markings and instructions that accompany the accessory

product.

The power supply cord (plug) should be disconnected

from the outlet when electronic products are to be left unused

for extended periods of time. Cords should also be disconnected

when there is a high probability of lightning and/or electrical

storm activity.

Care should be taken that objects do not fall and liquids

are not spilled into the enclosure through any openings that may

exist.

Electrical/electronic products should be serviced by a

qualiﬁed service person when:

a. The power supply cord has been damaged; or

b. Objects have fallen, been inserted, or liquids have been

spilled into the enclosure through openings; or

c. The product has been exposed to rain: or

d. The product dose not operate, exhibits a marked

change in performance; or

e. The product has been dropped, or the enclosure of the

product has been damaged.

Do not attempt to service this product beyond that

described in the user-maintenance instructions. All other servic-

ing should be referred to qualiﬁed service personnel.

This product, either alone or in combination with an

ampliﬁer and headphones or speaker/s, may be capable of pro-

ducing sound levels that could cause permanent hearing loss.

DO NOT operate for a long period of time at a high volume

level or at a level that is uncomfortable. If you experience any

hearing loss or ringing in the ears, you should consult an audiol-

ogist.

IMPORTANT: The louder the sound, the shorter the time period

before damage occurs.

15.

Some Yamaha products may have benches and/or

accessory mounting ﬁxtures that are either supplied as a part of

the product or as optional accessories. Some of these items are

designed to be dealer assembled or installed. Please make sure

that benches are stable and any optional ﬁxtures (where applica-

ble) are well secured BEFORE using. Benches supplied by

Yamaha are designed for seating only. No other uses are recom-

mended.

WARNING

Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of serious injury or even

• Only use the voltage speciﬁed as correct for the instrument. The

required voltage is printed on the name plate of the instrument.

• Check the electric plug periodically and remove any dirt or dust

which may have accumulated on it.

• Do not place the power cord near heat sources such as heaters or

radiators, and do not excessively bend or otherwise damage the

cord, place heavy objects on it, or place it in a position where

anyone could walk on, trip over, or roll anything over it.

• Do not open the instrument or attempt to disassemble the internal

parts or modify them in any way. The instrument contains no user-

serviceable parts. If it should appear to be malfunctioning,

discontinue use immediately and have it inspected by qualiﬁed

Yamaha service personnel.

• Do not expose the instrument to rain, use it near water or in damp

or wet conditions, or place containers on it containing liquids

which might spill into any openings.

• Never insert or remove an electric plug with wet hands.

• Do not put burning items, such as candles, on the unit.

A burning item may fall over and cause a ﬁre.

a sudden loss of sound during use of the instrument, or if any

CAUTION

Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of physical injury to you or

others, or damage to the instrument or other property. These precautions include, but are not limited

to, the following:

• When removing the electric plug from the instrument or an outlet,

always hold the plug itself and not the cord. Pulling by the cord

can damage it.

• Remove the electric plug from the outlet when the instrument is not

to be used for extended periods of time, or during electrical storms.

• Do not connect the instrument to an electrical outlet using a

multiple-connector. Doing so can result in lower sound quality, or

possibly cause overheating in the outlet.

• Do not expose the instrument to excessive dust or vibrations, or

extreme cold or heat (such as in direct sunlight, near a heater, or in

a car during the day) to prevent the possibility of panel

disﬁguration or damage to the internal components.

• Do not use the instrument in the vicinity of a TV, radio, stereo

equipment, mobile phone, or other electric devices. Otherwise, the

instrument, TV, or radio may generate noise.

• Do not place the instrument in an unstable position where it might

accidentally fall over.

• Before moving the instrument, remove all connected cables.

• When setting up the instrument, make sure that the AC outlet you

are using is easily accessible. If some trouble or malfunction

occurs, immediately turn off the power switch and disconnect the

plug from the outlet.

• Before connecting the instrument to other electronic components,

turn off the power for all components. Before turning the power on

or off for all components, set all volume levels to minimum. Also,

be sure to set the volumes of all components at their minimum

levels and gradually raise the volume controls while playing the

instrument to set the desired listening level.

• When cleaning the instrument, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use

paint thinners, solvents, cleaning ﬂuids, or chemical-impregnated

wiping cloths.

• Do not place vinyl, plastic or rubber objects on the instrument,

since this might discolor the panel or keyboard.

• Do not rest your weight on, or place heavy objects on the

instrument, and do not use excessive force on the buttons,

switches or connectors.

• Do not operate the instrument for a long period of time at a high or

uncomfortable volume level, since this can cause permanent

hearing loss. If you experience any hearing loss or ringing in the

ears, consult a physician.

Always turn the power off when the instrument is not in use.

Controls & Connectors

BASS control:

Use this control to adjust the volume of the subwoofer. For best results, set this to the midway

position or slightly higher. Turn it clockwise to increase the volume and counterclockwise to

decrease it.

Main POWER switch:

Turns the power ON or OFF. Make sure to turn the subwoofer’s power ON, and then turn the

instrument’s power ON.

When turning the power OFF, turn the instrument’s power OFF and then turn the subwoofer’s

power OFF.

TO KEYBOARD terminals:

Use this to connect the subwoofer to the instrument. For details, refer to the Tyros2/Tyros3

Owner’s manual.

TO KEYBOARD terminal:

Troubleshooting

If the speakers fail to operate normally, check the following table. It lists common operation errors and simple measures

that you can take to correct problems. If a problem cannot be corrected, or the symptom is not listed, disconnect the AC

power cord and contact your authorized YAMAHA dealer or service center for help.

VORSICHT

Befolgen Sie unbedingt die nachfolgend beschriebenen grundlegenden Vorsichtsmaßnahmen, um

die Gefahr von Verletzungen bei Ihnen oder Dritten, sowie Beschädigungen des Instruments oder

anderer Gegenstände zu vermeiden. Zu diesen Vorsichtsmaßnahmen gehören die folgenden Punkte,

die jedoch keine abschließende Aufzählung darstellen:

•Wenn Sie den Netzstecker aus dem Instrument oder der

Netzsteckdose abziehen, ziehen Sie stets am Stecker selbst und

niemals am Kabel. Wenn Sie am Kabel ziehen, kann dieses

beschädigt werden.

• Ziehen Sie stets den Netzstecker aus der Netzsteckdose heraus,

wenn das Instrument längere Zeit nicht benutzt wird oder während

eines Gewitters.

• Schließen Sie das Instrument niemals mit einem

Mehrfachsteckverbinder an eine Steckdose an. Hierdurch kann

sich die Tonqualität verschlechtern oder sich die Netzsteckdose

Vibrationen oder extremer Kälte oder Hitze aus (etwa durch direkte

Sonneneinstrahlung, die Nähe einer Heizung oder Lagerung

tagsüber in einem geschlossenen Fahrzeug), um die Möglichkeit

auszuschalten, dass sich das Bedienfeld verzieht oder Bauteile im

Innern beschädigt werden.

• Betreiben Sie das Instrument nicht in der Nähe von

Fernsehgeräten, Radios, Stereoanlagen, Mobiltelefonen oder

anderen elektrischen Geräten. Anderenfalls kann durch das

Instrument oder die anderen Geräte ein Rauschen entstehen.

• Stellen Sie das Instrument nicht an einer instabilen Position ab,

wo es versehentlich umstürzen könnte.

• Ehe Sie das Instrument bewegen, trennen Sie alle

angeschlossenen Kabelverbindungen ab.

• Achten Sie beim Aufstellen des Instruments darauf, dass die

verwendete Netzsteckdose leicht erreichbar ist. Sollten Probleme

auftreten oder es zu einer Fehlfunktion kommen, schalten Sie das

Instrument sofort aus, und ziehen Sie den Stecker aus der

Steckdose.

• Ehe Sie das Instrument an andere elektronische Komponenten

anschließen, schalten Sie die Stromversorgung aller Geräte aus.

Ehe Sie die Stromversorgung für alle Komponenten an- oder

ausschalten, stellen Sie bitte alle Lautstärkepegel auf die kleinste

Lautstärke ein. Auch immer sicherstellen, dass die Lautstärke aller

Komponenten auf den kleinsten Pegel gestellt werden und die

Lautstärke dann langsam gesteigert wird, während das Instrument

gespielt wird, um den gewünschten Hörpegel einzustellen.

•Verwenden Sie zur Reinigung des Instruments ein weiches,

trockenes Tuch. Verwenden Sie keinesfalls Farbverdünner,

Lösungsmittel, Reinigungsﬂüssigkeiten oder chemisch

inprägnierte Wischtücher.

• Legen Sie ferner keine Vinyl-, Kunststoff- oder

Gummigegenstände auf das Instrument, da sich hierdurch das

Bedienfeld oder die Tastatur verfärben könnten.

• Lehnen oder setzen Sie sich nicht auf das Instrument, legen Sie

keine schweren Gegenstände darauf und üben Sie nicht mehr Kraft

auf Tasten, Schalter oder Steckerverbinder aus als unbedingt

erforderlich.

• Spielen Sie das Instrument nicht länge Zeit mit hoher oder

unangenehmer Lautstärke, da es hierdurch zu permanentem

Gehörverlust kommen kann. Falls Sie Gehörverlust bemerken oder

ein Klingeln im Ohr feststellen, lassen Sie sich von Ihrem Arzt

beraten.

Stellen Sie stets die Stromversorgung aus, wenn das Instrument nicht verwendet wird.

Wenn die Boxen nicht erwartungsgemäß zu funktionieren scheinen, überprüfen Sie bitte erst nachstehende Punkte. Dort

ﬁnden Sie die gängigsten Problemfälle sowie Vorschläge zu ihrer Behebung. Läßt sich Ihr Problem dadurch nicht behe-

ben, lösen Sie bitte den Netzanschluß und wenden Sie sich an Ihren YAMAHA-Händler oder eine anerkannte Kunden-

dienststelle.

Das Netzkabel wurde nicht richtig angeschlossen. Verbinden Sie das Netzkabel ordnungsgemäß mit

einer Steckdose.

Der Hauptnetzschalter des Tieftöners beﬁndet sich

in der OFF-Position.

Stellen Sie ihn auf ON.

Falsche oder unvollständige Anschlüsse. Überprüfen Sie, ob die Anschlüsse richtig und voll-

Die VOLUME-Regler beﬁnden Sie auf dem Min-

Drehen Sie den Regler MASTER VOLUME am

AVERTISSEMENT

Veillez à toujours observer les précautions élémentaires énumérées ci-après pour éviter de graves

accidents. La liste des précautions données ci-dessous n'est pas exhaustive :

• Utilisez seulement la tension requise par l'instrument. Celle-ci est

imprimée sur la plaque du constructeur de l'instrument.

• Vériﬁez périodiquement l'état de la prise électrique, dépoussiérez-

la et nettoyez-la.

• Ne laissez pas le cordon d'alimentation à proximité des sources de

chaleur, telles que radiateurs et appareils chauffants. Evitez de

tordre et pliez excessivement le cordon ou de l'endommager de

façon générale, de même que de placer dessus des objets lourds

ou de le laisser traîner là où l'on marchera dessus ou se prendra

les pieds dedans ; ne déposez pas dessus d'autres câbles

enroulés.

• N’ouvrez pas l'instrument et ne tentez pas d'en démonter les

éléments internes ou de les modiﬁer de quelque façon que ce soit.

Aucun des éléments internes de l'instrument ne prévoit

d'intervention de l'utilisateur. Si l'instrument donne des signes de

mauvais fonctionnement, mettez-le immédiatement hors tension et

donnez-le à réviser au technicien Yamaha.

• Evitez de laisser l'instrument sous la pluie, de l'utiliser près de

l'eau, dans l'humidité ou lorsqu'il est mouillé. Ne déposez pas

dessus des récipients contenant des liquides qui risquent de

s'épancher dans ses ouvertures.

• Ne touchez jamais une prise électrique avec les mains mouillées.

• Ne déposez pas d'articles allumés, tels que des bougies, sur

l'appareil. Ceux-ci pourraient tomber et provoquer un incendie.

• Si le cordon d'alimentation s'efﬁloche ou est endommagé ou si

ou encore si vous décèlez une odeur insolite, voire de la fumée,

coupez immédiatement l'interrupteur principal, retirez la ﬁche de la

ATTENTION

•Veillez à toujours saisir la ﬁche elle-même, et non le câble, pour la

retirer de l'instrument ou de la prise d'alimentation. Tirer

directement sur le câble est commode mais ﬁnit par

l'endommager.

• Débranchez l'adaptateur secteur lorsque l'on n'utilise plus

l'instrument ou en cas d'orage.

• N’utilisez pas de connecteur multiple pour brancher l'instrument

sur une prise électrique du secteur. Cela risque d'affecter la qualité

du son ou éventuellement de faire chauffer la prise.

• N’abandonnez pas l'instrument dans un milieu trop poussiéreux

ou un local soumis à des vibrations. Evitez également les froids et

chaleurs extrêmes (exposition directe au soleil, près d'un

chauffage ou dans une voiture exposée en plein soleil) qui

risquent de déformer le panneau ou d'endommager les éléments

internes.

• N’utilisez pas l'instrument à proximité d'une TV, d'une radio, d'un

équipement stéréo, d'un téléphone portable ou d'autres appareils

électriques. En effet, l'instrument, la TV ou la radio pourraient

produire des interférences.

• N’installez pas l'instrument dans une position instable où il

risquerait de se renverser.

• Débranchez tous les câbles connectés avant de déplacer

l'instrument.

• Lors de la conﬁguration de l'instrument, assurez-vous que la prise

secteur que vous utilisez est facilement accessible. En cas de

problème ou de dysfonctionnement, coupez directement

l'alimentation et retirez la ﬁche de la prise.

•Avant de raccorder l'instrument à d'autres éléments électroniques,

mettez ces derniers hors tension. Et avant de mettre sous/hors

tension tous les éléments, veiller à toujours ramener le volume au

minimum. En outre, veillez à régler le volume de tous les

composants au minimum et à augmenter progressivement le

volume sonore des instruments pour déﬁnir le niveau d'écoute

désiré.

• Utilisez un linge doux et sec pour le nettoyage de l'instrument.

N’utilisez jamais de diluants de peinture, solvants, produits

d'entretien ou tampons de nettoyage imprégnés de produits

chimiques.

• Ne déposer pas d'objets de plastique, de vinyle ou de caoutchouc

sur l'instrument, ce qui risque de décolorer le panneau ou le

clavier.

• Ne vous appuyez pas sur l'instrument et n’y déposez pas des

objets lourds. Ne manipulez pas trop brutalement les boutons,

commutateurs et connecteurs.

• Ne jouez pas trop longtemps sur l'instrument à des volumes trop

élevés, ce qui risque d'endommager durablement l'ouïe. Si vous

constatez une baisse de l'acuité auditive ou des sifﬂements

d'oreille, consultez un médecin sans tarder.

Veillez à toujours laisser l'appareil hors tension lorsqu'il est inutilisé.

q Commande BASS :

Ce bouton permet d’ajuster le volume du caisson de basses. Pour obtenir un résultat optimal,

réglez ce bouton sur la position moyenne ou légèrement au-dessus. Tournez-le dans le sens des

aiguilles d’une montre pour augmenter le volume et dans le sens inverse pour le diminuer.

w Interrupteur d’alimentation principal :

Ce bouton permet de mettre le caisson de basses sous tension ou hors tension. Veillez à mettre

d’abord le caisson de basses et ensuite l’instrument sous tension.

Lorsque vous mettez l’appareil hors tension, mettez d’abord l’instrument et puis le caisson de

basses hors tension.

e Bornes TO KEYBOARD :

Utilisez cette prise pour connecter le caisson de basses à l’instrument. Pour plus de détails,

En cas de problème

Si les enceintes ne fonctionnent pas normalement, passez le tableau suivant au crible. Il reprend les erreurs de manipula-

tions les plus communes, auxquelles il est fort simple de remédier. Si votre problème n’y trouve pas de solution ou si

vous n’y trouvez pas les symptômes, débranchez le cordon d’alimentation et contactez un revendeur ou un centre de ser-

vice après-vente YAMAHA autorisé.

Les enceintes et le subwoofer

restent muets.

Le cordon d’alimentation n’a pas été correctement

branché.

Branchez correctement le cordon d’alimentation à

une prise secteur.

L’interrupteur principal sur le subwoofer est sur

Réglez l’interrupteur principal sur ON.

Connexions mauvaises ou incomplètes. Assurez-vous que les branchements sont corrects,

La commande volume se trouve sur le niveau mini-

Tournez la commande BASS du subwoofer vers la

droite pour augmenter le niveau.

Le niveau de sortie du signal est trop bas. Augmentez le volume de l’instrument.

Il y a distorsion du signal. Le niveau du signal entrant est trop élevé. Diminuez le volume de l’instrument.

Bruit. Connexions mauvaises ou incomplètes. Assurez-vous que les branchements sont corrects,

sinon utilisez un autre câble.

Les haut-parleurs émettent un

Yamaha Corporation of America, hereafter referred to as Yamaha, warrants to the original consumer of a product included in the categories listed

below, that the product will be free of defects in materials and/or workmanship for the periods indicated. This warranty is applicable to all models

included in the following series of products:

If during the ﬁrst 90 days that immediately follows the purchase date, your new Yamaha product covered by this warranty is found to have a defect in

material and/or workmanship, Yamaha and/or its authorized representative will repair such defect without charge for parts or labor.

If parts should be required after this 90 day period but within the one year period that immediately follows the purchase date, Yamaha will, subject to

the terms of this warranty, supply these parts without charge. However, charges for labor, and/or any miscellaneous expenses incurred are the

consumers responsibility. Yamaha reserves the right to utilize reconditioned parts in repairing these products and/or to use reconditioned units as

warranty replacements.

THIS WARRANTY IS THE ONLY EXPRESS WARRANTY WHICH YAMAHA MAKES IN CONNECTION WITH THESE PRODUCTS.
